What it looks like
- Escalating threats, intimidation, or talk of revenge
- A recently terminated or aggrieved person returning
- Coworkers expressing fear of a specific individual
Before — design it out
- Take reported threats seriously; have a reporting path and EAP
- Manage access for departing employees promptly
- Train managers to spot and escalate concerns early
During — what staff do
- Separate the person from others; don't corner them
- Call 911 if there's a weapon or imminent harm
- Lock down or evacuate per the situation; document everything
