What it looks like
- Lights out, no AC, elevator stoppage
- Smell of gas, water intrusion, or a structural noise/crack
Before — design it out
- Know where emergency lighting and exits are
- Have flashlights and a building-engineer contact
During — what staff do
- Keep guests calm and lit; reassure
- For a gas smell: don't switch anything, evacuate, call 911
- Get building management/engineering on it fast
