Hostile surveillance / casing

Someone studying the site to plan something — the earliest warning you get.

What it looks like

  • Filming or photographing entrances, cameras, or security posts
  • Pacing, timing staff, or returning repeatedly to watch
  • Asking unusual questions about security, schedules, or VIPs

Before — design it out

  • Train staff to notice and note watchers
  • Vary patrol timing so patterns are hard to read
  • Log and share repeat sightings across shifts

During — what staff do

  • Note clothing, behavior, direction, and any vehicle (plate if safe)
  • Report to the safety lead — don't confront
  • Have security make a visible, friendly contact if appropriate
